About us

We believe in the Power of Children's Play

We support children aged 4-11 years with their learning and development through play, as well as sports and fun group games.

As an Ofsted registered organisation, we are committed to delivering high quality childcare and play experiences that will support your child’s own personal development by creating opportunities for them to participate and learn new skills through play, sports and group activities.

OSCAHS believes that all children are entitled to play; it is intrinsic to their quality of life and an important part of how they learn and enjoy themselves.

In addition, according to Play England, “Play is an essential part of every child’s life and is vital for the enjoyment of childhood as well as social, emotional, intellectual and physical development.”

As a play-based provision, we recognise the importance of play to a child’s development and follow the Playwork Principles. As Playworkers, we are advocates of children’s play, seeking to support and facilitate play.

Our Mission Statement

OSCAHS aim to provide high quality play and childcare within a warm and welcoming environment. The individuality of each child in our care will be respected and nurtured.

Aims and objectives

OSCAHS aim to:

  • Offer an inclusive service, accessible to children attending the host Schools
  • Ensure each child feels happy, safe and secure, allowing them to learn and develop freely in a play-centred environment
  • Encourage children to take responsibility for themselves and their actions
  • Encourage children to develop positive attitudes and respect for themselves and others, in an environment free from bullying and discrimination
  • Provide a wide range of resources and equipment which can be used under safe and supervised conditions
  • Offer a programme of activities which meets the needs of each child, promoting their physical, intellectual, emotional and social development, enabling them to become confident, independent and co-operative individuals
  • Be advocates of children’s play and promote the values of high quality Playwork
  • Work in partnership with the school and families to provide high quality play and care
  • Review and evaluate our services to ensure that we continue to meet the needs of children in our care and those of their parents or carers, as well as the host school
  • Keep parents and carers informed about changes in the administration of their child’s Club, and to listen and respond to their views and concerns
  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers, and to discuss experiences, progress and any difficulties that may arise
  • Employ experienced, well trained staff and offer them appropriate support
  • Comply with the Children’s Act 1989, the Childcare Act 2006, and all other relevant legislation
  • Work in partnership with the school, the local community and the local authority.
  • We aim to work towards meeting all Ofsted requirements. It is always our aim to work towards a ‘Met’ outcome from an Ofsted inspection.

We provide a safe and caring environment, free from discrimination, for everyone in our community

We create a welcoming environment free from discrimination by respecting the different racial origins, religions, cultures and languages in a multi-ethnic society, so that each child is valued as an individual without racial or gender stereotyping.

We help all children to celebrate and express their cultural and religious identity by providing a wide range of appropriate resources and activities.

We strive to ensure that children feel good about themselves and others, by celebrating the differences which make us all unique individuals.

Healthly breakfast and afternoon snacks

We provide healthy, nutritious and balanced food and drinks. Food and drink are safely prepared with regard to the dietary and religious requirements of the children in our care.

We ask parents to notify us regarding any special dietary requirements or allergies when they register their child with us.

Breakfast and afternoon snacks are included within our fees structure, meaning there’s no extra (or hidden) costs to our families.

We follow the guidelines set out in ‘Safer Food, Better Business’ (FSA) and each Club is registered as a food business with the local authority. We are regularly inspected by Environmental Health to ensure that health and hygiene standards are being met.

Our Playworkers

Our Playworkers are here to create a fun and welcoming environment for each child. Their aim is to create a fun and positive experience each child at OSCAHS.

Before Playworkers join our organisation, we use safe recruitment practices to ensure that all people working with the children in our care are safe and qualified to do so. This means obtaining an enhanced disclosure (DBS checks) and suitable references before they can start working with the children in our care. All Playworkers complete induction training and receive regular staff training to support their CPD.
